“If dance is indeed a weapon, Akim Funk Buddha is some kind of delightful drunken master.”
—The New York Sun

Choreographer, beatboxer, throat-singer (really!), and hip-hop visionary Akim Funk Buddha returns to BAMcafé for two nights of East-meets-West cultural collisions inspired by Japan. On Friday, come dressed in your best classic 80s attire for record spinning and rhyme spitting, with b-boys and b-girls breaking it down as old-school hip-hop meets Japanese Noh theater. On Saturday, Akim’s Urban Orchestra unleashes everything from Afro-funk to Bhangra to Japanese hip-hop.

BAMcafé Live Host: Phillip Andry
BAMcafé Live House DJ: DJ Idlemind “The Appropriate Agent”
