I’ve seen the bright get duller.
I’m not going to spend my life being a color
- Michael Jackson, Black or White

Louis B. James is pleased to present Colors, a group show focusing on the presence and absence of color and the emotional and mental impact that such groupings can deliver. Divided into two sections, each gallery will serve as a physical manifestation of the feelings and moods of summer.
The street-level floor of the gallery will highlight all black, white and gray work intending to create a respite from the chaos of the heat and humidity of the summer. The only theme is the lack of color attempting to create a unified presence of potentially disparate works, a cool environment in which to escape the harsh outside reality.

The basement-level gallery throws the viewer right into the chaos through a rainbow of colors: an overwhelming sense of carnival-like madness and fun recreating a day at the beach, a trip to the amusement park or the hangover haziness of a day spent in the sun. Both floors will be enhanced with a sound installation, each a unique experience highlighting the presence or absence of color.
