A.I.R. GALLERY | 155 Plymouth Street
January 5 - February 5, 2016
Opening Reception: January 8th from 4-6pm
Artist Talk: January 8th at 4:30pm
Eleanor King’s installations incorporate painting, drawing, sound, video, and sculpture. Her new project SLOW DOWN / DON’T STOP is created specifically for the A.I.R. Fellowship. Following a manifesto of the same title (authored by the artist in May 2016), this project meditates on melting in the age of Late Capitalism. If psychoanalysis after Freud uses the iceberg as a metaphor for consciousness, what happens to us as the poles thaw? King’s videos, drawings, and sound works focus on ‘the melt’, as caused by climate change brought on by the Anthropocene.
