Larissa Goldston Gallery is pleased announce that Gandalf Gaván was recently selected to be the first Non-Mexican artist to exhibit at the Museo Nacional de Arte (Munal) as part of the Contemporary Dialogs Series, a curatorial project that invites contemporary artists to interact with the museum's architecture and permanent collection. For his "intervention" Gaván chose seventeenth-century artist José Juárez, widely regarded as the most significant artist of the viceregal period. Gandalf Gaván: Re(a)prendido will remain on view through February 28th. To view the press release click here.
We are also pleased to announce that Gaván is a 2012 Nancy Graves Foundation Grant recipient. Established by the artist, the Nancy Graves Grant for Visual Artists support artists wishing to work in a technique, medium or discipline that is different from the one in which they are primarily recognized.
