A.I.R. Gallery | 111 Front Street, #228
A.I.R. Gallery and Kind Aesthetic are excited to host a DELVE Networking event at the gallery on Thursday, July 11th, from 7:00 – 9:00pm. KInd Aesthetic is a new Brooklyn based arts consultancy focused on creating tailored services for artists and creative businesses.
This free event is part of a series of DELVE Networking events designed by Kind Aesthetic to gather artists, creatives, and arts professionals together in a relaxed environment to get to know each other outside of crowded gallery openings. Each DELVE Networking event begins with talks given by outside speakers sharing their own unique path in the art world. At this specific event, A.I.R. Gallery has the honor of presenting talks by Matthew Deleget of MINUS SPACE, Laura Roumanos of United Photo Industries, and Shanti Grumbine, A.I.R. Gallery’s own 2012-2013 Fellowship Artist.
Matthew Deleget is an abstract painter and curator. He has exhibited his work nationally and internationally, including solo and group exhibitions in the US, Europe, and Australasia. He has received awards from the American Academy of Arts & Letters, Brooklyn Arts Council, and The Golden Rule Foundation, and his work has been reviewed in Artforum, The New York Times, Flash Art, and The Philadelphia Inquirer among others. He is a member of the Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation’s Artist Advisory Committee and the board of The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts. In 2003, Matthew founded MINUS SPACE, a platform for reductive art on the international level based in Brooklyn, NY. Since 2006, Matthew has organized more than 40 solo and group exhibitions at both MINUS SPACE’s gallery in DUMBO, Brooklyn, as well as other collaborating venues on the national and international levels.
Originally hailing from Sydney, Australia, where she graduated from the prestigious National Institute of Dramatic Arts – Laura Roumanos worked as a Producer and Arts Administrator before making her big move to NYC to join the Manhattan Theatre Club. She then headed over to St. Ann’s Warehouse where she was the General Manager for several years, producing and presenting large-scale (and not so large) international theatre, music, and art events. Most recently she has worked as the Senior Producer of Creative Time and also a Producer at the World Science Festival. Laura is currently working at United Photo Industries as their executive producer and co-founder of Photoville, while consulting, managing, and producing numerous theatrical shows and events throughout New York City.
Beyond being an A.I.R. Fellow, Shanti Grumbine is a graduate of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and she holds a MFA from Penn Design at the University of Pennsylvania. A selection of her past exhibition venues includes: Magnan-Metz Gallery, The Dorsky Museum at SUNY New Paltz, The Islip Art Museum, and the IPCNY. She has been an artist in residence at The Vermont Studio Center, The Lower East Side Printshop, The Millay Colony, and The Ucross Foundation. She will be attending The Bemis Center For Contemporary Art in the fall of 2013.
