Whitney Wood Bailey, Natalie Dunham, Vadis Turner
A.I.R. Gallery | 111 Front Street
In their works, Bailey, Dunham, and Turner address and experiment with the relationships between the natural and the synthetic, the instinctual and the intellectual. Central to each is the question of human existence and limitation: What does it mean to be a human and to what extent can that be represented or manipulated in a plastic medium? Though their processes are diverse, the juxtaposition of these artists’ works allows for a dynamic interpretative experience that challenges audiences to make larger than life connections. Specifically, it forces viewers to rethink their assumptions about women, culture, and artisthood in the twenty-first century.
