Pioneer Works is pleased to announce the opening of Pioneer Books at 289 Van Brunt Street in Red Hook, and will be hosting a reception at the new space on Tuesday, June 16 from 6 - 8:30 p.m.
At the opening artist Marcel Dzama will sign copies of the current issue of Intercourse. And at 7pm, poet Ted Dodson will read from his forthcoming work, At the National Monument.
As part of Pioneer Works, the new bookstore will offer a focused and changing-roster of titles that connect to and inspire the cross-disciplinary underpinnings of the center’s mission.Topics covered will range from art, poetry, philosophy, science, anthropology, ecology, architecture, psychology, technology, DIY methodology, children’s books, mysticism and renegade zines. In the future the bookstore will also host readings and displays with authors and book artists.
Reading exists at the foundation of all creative practice, irrespective of subject or format, and the hope is that Pioneer Books becomes a trusted resource in the search for knowledge.
