Pratt Photography Lectures and Fine Arts Visiting Artist Lecture Series present Catherine Opie.

Catherine Opie is an American photographer based in Los Angeles, and is currently a professor of Photography at UCLA. Opie has investigated aspects of community, making portraits of many groups including LGBT community; surfers; and most recently high school football players. Whether documenting political movements, queer subcultures, or urban transformation, Opie’s images of contemporary life comprise a portrait of our time in America. Her work has been featured in numerous museum exhibitions, including a mid-career survey at the Guggenheim in 2008. Opie is represented by Michell-Innes & Nash in New York.
