In September, small selected groups of art and design students from Adelphi University, Brooklyn College, and Pratt Institute began working with local Brooklyn businesses through an opportunity to become COPENYC Artists-in-Residence at the former Pfizer building. Acumen Capital, owners of the building, gave them a warehouse full of discarded furniture and construction materials, while the city’s premier recycling center, Materials for the Arts donated materials for them to create engaging, collaborative projects for the community.
Designed with a creative reuse approach, their projects will be on display, along with student work from Columbia University, University of Pittsburgh, K–12 schools and art educators from November 16 to December 16 at the former Pfizer building on the third floor.
In conjunction with the exhibition, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and the 4th R - Reimagine, on November 19, from 5 to 8 PM, An Inclusive World Project will install its third major art exhibit of Repsychling on the ground floor. The opening reception, beginning at 5 PM will kick off with a fashion show by the High School of Fashion Industries and Juan Morel Campos Secondary School and a performance by Repsychling artist Chin Chih Yang.
