Boo-Hooray | 265 Canal Street

Curated by Johan Kugelberg

Prior to founding Black Mask and Up Against the Wall Motherfucker, Ben Morea was active as an abstract painter in New York. He worked on paper as well as canvas. All the work was thought lost (the work on paper still is) but five large canvases were located under a bed in Hell’s Kitchen. These amazing, original artworks are on exhibit at Boo-Hooray for the first time.

This is a thrilling follow up to our exhibition on Black Mask earlier this year. Ben Morea’s marriage of radical political/philosophical thought and avant-garde art as mirrored in Black Mask and UAW/MF publications and actions is further illuminated when viewing these powerful paintings.

An illustrated catalog with text by Ben about his paintings will be available at the exhibition.

RSVP below for the opening on June 19th at Boo-Hooray.
